Woman records her genuine reaction to finding out shes pregnant: Is 32 too young to be pregnant?

A content creator’s reaction to realizing she’s pregnant appears to have resonated with many TikTok users.

On June 16, Kristie (@astylechild), a 32-year-old fashion creator based in Columbus, Ohio, shared the reaction video she recorded of herself upon finding out she’s pregnant. The video, Kristie explains, was taken with the intention of having her “cute” reaction immortalized.

“I recorded myself taking a pregnancy test because I thought I would have this cute video like everybody else,” she begins. “But this is what happens when it takes you three to five business days to process your emotions.”

A 2019 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that, for the first time in history, women in their 30s are having more babies than women in their 20s, which is at least in part due to the financial hardship many millennials are experiencing.

Kristie sees “a faint line” on the pregnancy test, which she checks out from varying angles. She reads the instructions on the box once again before digging through the trash “to compare to yesterday’s pregnancy test.”

“Should I wake up my husband?????” she contemplates upon realizing she may be seeing a faint line.

“Is 32 too young to be pregnant?” she asks.

In 2021, the CDC also reported that first-time moms are the oldest they’ve ever been at 27.3 years.

“The report said ‘the increase in the mean age in 2021 reflects, in part, the decline in the number of first births to women in their teens and early 20s and the concurrent rise in first births to women in their late 20s, 30s and 40s,'” according to an article in Deseret News.

Insider reported that “a woman’s ability to have a baby begins declining ‘gradually but significantly around age 32,’ according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. After age 35, fertility declines quickly and the risk of miscarriage and difficulties conceiving rise, the experts said.”

“I got pregnant at 33 and was really like ‘I’m not ready to be a teen mom.'”

Kristie is being commended for showcasing her honest reaction to the news of her pregnancy, even if it isn’t the most exciting.

“33 and I still feel too young. The struggle of societal expectations,” @kitasanasa wrote.

“I got pregnant at 33 and was really like ‘I’m not ready to be a teen mom,'” @bettyborroto commented.

“Is 32 too young to be pregnant? YES THANK YOU. I am 31 and struggling with the same question in our marriage-it was affirming to see,” @meandmyboobs wrote, to which Kristie responded, “This is so real!! Every year up until now, we’ve hit the snooze button on trying.”
