Zoom's Triumph: A Major Victory
Amazon's widespread adoption of Zoom is a significant boost for the videoconferencing giant. The move represents a notable shift, as Zoom had lost much of its pandemic-driven market gains in recent times.
Chime's Deprecation: A Limited Reach
Amazon will gradually phase out Chime, citing its limited external use. An Amazon spokesperson explained that the company prefers to leverage collaborative solutions provided by its partners.
Microsoft 365 Integration: Enhanced Productivity
Amazon has commenced the rollout of Microsoft's 365 productivity tools internally. Employees will benefit from applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Teams will facilitate meetings requiring full integration with 365, while Cisco Webex remains available for meetings with customers using Cisco products.
Chime Remains in the Software Development Kit
In a separate blog post, Amazon clarified that the software development kit for Chime will not be affected by this change. Developers will still have access to Chime's capabilities for building communication applications.
