Jon Stewart Criticizes DOGE Cuts, Smashes Mug on Desk

Jon Stewart delivered a passionate monologue on The Daily Show, criticizing Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts. His frustration reached a boiling point when he smashed a prop mug on his desk.
Stewart argued that DOGE's focus on cuts to research studies, such as those on climate change and healthcare, is misplaced. Instead, he suggested that they should scrutinize the "$3 billion in tax breaks given to oil and gas companies" and the "$2 trillion spent on a fighter jet that underperforms."
Stewart emphasized capitalism's inherently exploitative nature and the government's responsibility to mitigate its negative effects. He criticized DOGE for "subsiding treachery with our money" instead of addressing the root causes of economic inequality.
"I want DOGE to work. I want efficiencies, I want to eliminate ineffective agencies, and force the Pentagon to be accountable," Stewart stated. "But we are targeting the wrong areas if we truly want to transform the system."
