Nvidia has yet to explain why it launched its GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs
Nvidia has implemented a Verified Priority Access (VPA) program to address availability issues with its latest GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs. This program aims to prioritize genuine gamers, reducing the impact of scalpers and ensuring fair access to its products.
Eligibility and Application Process
To be eligible for the VPA program, applicants must have an existing Nvidia account created before January 30th, 2023. The application process involves filling out an online form, indicating a preference for either the RTX 5090 or 5080 model.
Nvidia will then use an algorithm to verify the applicant's gaming credentials by analyzing their usage patterns in the Nvidia app and GeForce Experience software. Those who meet the criteria will receive an invitation to purchase a card.
Program Rollout
Invitations for the VPA program will begin rolling out next week. However, Nvidia has not disclosed the number of cards allocated to this program, making it uncertain whether this initiative will effectively combat scalpers and ensure widespread availability to gamers.
