Trump Media & Rumble File Emergency Motion Against Brazilian Supreme Court Justice

The Trump Media & Technology Group, led by former U.S. President Donald Trump, and video-sharing platform Rumble have filed an emergency motion in a U.S. court against Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

Suspension of Rumble in Brazil

On Friday, Justice Moraes ordered the suspension of Rumble in Brazil until it complied with court orders. This came after the firms sued Moraes in the U.S. District Court in Tampa, alleging illegal censorship.

Motion Against Justice Moraes

The emergency motion seeks to stop the orders issued by Moraes, which the firms claim "violate American sovereignty, the U.S. Constitution, and U.S. laws."

In their statement, Trump Media & Rumble allege that Moraes has threatened criminal charges against Rumble's CEO, Chris Pavlovski.

Allegations Against Moraes

The firms argue that Moraes has ordered the suspension of Rumble despite the company's compliance with legal requirements, such as appointing a legal representative in Brazil.

Additionally, Moraes has allegedly ordered the blocking of the account of Allan dos Santos, a digital influencer close to former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and suspended its monetization.

Moraes' Crusade Against Disinformation

Justice Moraes has been known for his campaign against perceived attacks on democracy and political use of disinformation, particularly during the Bolsonaro government. This has drawn criticism from many, including X owner Elon Musk.
