U.S. Anticipates Progress on Phase Two of Israel-Hamas Truce

In an interview with CNN, U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff expressed optimism regarding the second phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement.

Extension of Phase One

Witkoff acknowledged Israel's delay in releasing Palestinian prisoners and detainees, indicating the necessity of extending Phase One of the truce. "We need to secure an extension to ensure continued progress," he said.

Upcoming Negotiations

Witkoff plans to visit the region this week, likely on Wednesday, to engage in negotiations for the extension. His aim is to facilitate a smooth transition into Phase Two of the agreement.
